Lahore Qalandars thrashed Multan Sultans by 20 runs in the rain-affected Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 match at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium on Friday evening.
Chasing a mammoth 186-run target for victory, Multan Sultans ended up at 165/5 in their quota of 13 overs. Due to a delayed start following rain and a wet outfield, the important encounter was reduced to a 13-over-a-side game.
Skipper Ashtoan Turner was the highest scorer for Sultans with an unbeaten 52 off 33 balls, hitting two fours and five maximums. Shan Masood made a quick-fire 44 off 18 balls, laced with seven fours and one maximum.
Arafat Minhas contributed 25 off 11 balls with the help of one four and two maximums, and Sahibzada Farhan 24 off 15 balls with the help of one four and two maximums.
Mustafizur Rahman took wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Ubaid Shah and Sikandar Raza got one wicket apiece. Mohammad Naeem was named player of the match for his valuable contribution with the ball.
Qalandars Innings:
After being asked to bat by the Sultans’ skipper, the Qalandars came out all guns blazing and managed to race to 185/5 in their quota of 13 overs.
Opener Mohammad Naeem was the top scorer for Qalandars, who made 60 off just 28 balls, striking four fours and as many maximums. Parvez Hossain Emon made 45 off 19 balls, laced with two fours and five maximums.
Abdullah Shafique contributed a valuable 33 off 14 balls, hitting three fours and two maximums. Sokandar Raza made an unbeaten 13 off eight balls with the help of two fours to help the side set a competitive total.
Muhammad Ismail bagged two wickets, and Peter Siddle and Faisal Akram one each, while Asif Ali was run out.
Rain Delay:
Earlier, the toss was delayed due to rain and gusty winds. Strong winds started blowing at around 06:10 pm, followed by steady rains, causing the ground staff to cover the pitch and playing area. On-field umpires delayed the toss for this important PSL 2026 encounter.
