Lahore, Punjab weather: Smog continues to persist

LAHORE – Smog will continue to prevail in Lahore and the plains of Punjab on Sunday night and the next two days due to a lack of rain and stable atmospheric conditions.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave will likely affect the upper parts of the country tonight.

Under these conditions, dry weather is expected in Lahore and most districts of the province on Sunday night and the next two days. Cold weather is likely in Murree, Galiyat and surroundings during the morning and night hours.

Smog will likely persist in Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan. Due to the persistent dryness and stable atmospheric conditions, smog intensity will continue to increase in Lahore and other plains during the next two days.

Experts have advised citizens to take precautionary measures to save themselves from smog-related hazards. Doctors have advised extra care for children and elderly people.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 32°C and 34°C on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Smog prevailed in Lahore and the plains of Punjab.

Sahiwal and Bahawalpur remained the hottest places in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. The maximum temperature in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Faisalabad was recorded at 33°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 43 per cent.
