Lahore, Punjab weather: Intermittent rains likely during weekend

LAHORE – Intermittent rains and windstorms are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday night and during the weekend.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea penetrate upper and central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely approach upper parts of the country tonight.

Under these conditions, isolated rains and windstorms are likely in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Lahore on Friday night.

On Saturday and Sunday, intermittent rains and windstorms are expected in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Lahore and surrounding areas. Windstorms are expected in Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 41°C and 43°C on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Bhakkar remained the hottest place in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. The maximum temperature in Attock and Dera Ghazi Khan was recorded at 45°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 45 per cent.
