The private operator says it is no longer financially capable of continuously covering fuel expenses from its own resources. As a result, the company has warned that continuing the service without a reliable fuel supply is becoming practically impossible.
The operator also referred to a court order in its final notice, arguing that the fuel supply issue should be resolved in accordance with the court’s directions. Veda maintains that if fuel is not supplied as required under the court’s instructions, it will not be able to continue operating the Metro Bus Service.
The company has effectively placed the responsibility for resolving the crisis on the relevant authorities, stating that under the current circumstances, suspension of operations may be the only viable option left.
The date set by Veda August 11 put the Punjab government and the Punjab Mass Transit Authority under intense time pressure. With only a short window remaining, authorities now face the challenge of resolving the fuel supply and financial issues before the deadline arrives.
