LAHORE – The Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) is continuing its efforts to promote and modernise performing arts through a four-day vocal music workshop being held at the Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts.
The workshop is being conducted under the supervision of senior music instructor Abdul Rauf, who is providing participants with practical and theoretical training in various genres of music.
The participants are being introduced to the fundamentals, terminology and artistic dimensions of classical music, film music, ghazal and folk music. Alongside practical vocal training, the workshop also covers the origins, historical development, evolution and distinctive characteristics of different musical genres.
The programme aims to help participants develop a broader understanding of music while familiarising them with its artistic and cultural foundations through contemporary teaching methods.
Participation and registration for the workshop have been offered free of charge by Alhamra, attracting a large number of participants, particularly young people interested in learning the performing arts.
Abdul Rauf, a senior and experienced music teacher, is guiding participants on various musical forms and technical aspects of vocal performance. His sessions focus on both practical skills and an understanding of the artistic nuances associated with different genres.
Executive Director of the Lahore Arts Council Alhamra, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal, said Abdul Rauf was a respected and experienced music instructor whose guidance was providing young people with an opportunity to learn both the practical and artistic dimensions of music.
He said the workshop was another addition to Alhamra’s initiatives aimed at promoting the arts and providing young people with opportunities to develop their creative abilities.
“Alhamra is taking the arts towards new dimensions and horizons by aligning its programmes with the needs of the contemporary era,” Gondal said.
The workshop is providing participants with an opportunity to explore music from its basic concepts to the historical and artistic evolution of different genres, creating a platform for learning, experimentation and creative expression among the younger generation.
