On the special instructions of CEO KW&SC Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, The Water Corporation officials have installed more than 22 thousands manhole covers across the city so far and the Water Corporation plans to install 20 thousands more manhole covers in the future.
In this regard, Chief Engineer Sewerage Aftab Alam Chandio, giving more details, said that the under the supervision of the concerned Executive Engineer Sewerage, 12,000 manhole covers have been installed so far and 10,000 manhole covers have been installed under the instructions of the concerned UC Chairman.
He said that under the special instructions of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and CEO KWSC Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, with the support of UC Chairmans, manhole covers are being installed in different areas.
He said that wherever there is a need or marked by any forum, the Water Corporation officials immediately install manhole covers. On this occasion, CEO KWSC Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed requested the citizens in his ongoing message that it is the responsibility of the Water Corporation to install manhole covers but protecting manhole covers from theft is the responsibility of the water corporation as well as the citizens, therefore, the citizens should catch the elements stealing manhole covers and hand them over to the police, because the city of Karachi is ours and the responsibility of its development and improvement rests on all of us, in this regard, the citizens should fully cooperate with the Water Corporation for the improvement of water supply and sewerage arrangements throughout the city, so that better water supply and sewerage facilities can be provided to the citizens.
