On the instructions of the acting vice chancellor of the University of Karachi Professor Dr Nasira Khatoon, the KU Campus Security Advisor Dr Muhammad Zubair and his team have started collecting the data regarding private vehicles particularly rickshaws which enter or exit the campus on regular basis.

A good number of students and employees used rickshaws and other private vehicles to enter the campus on daily basis. The KU Campus Security Office is also collecting data of rickshaws owned or run by the people living in the residential area of the University of Karachi. The KU acting VC Professor Dr Nasira Khatoon has also directed the security team to allot parking spaces to private vehicles at different locations.

Meanwhile, the security team is also collecting data of all the teachers, staff and employees, and their families residing in the residential block of the university so that new gate passes could be timely issued to them so that they should not face any kind of trouble while entering or going outside the campus.

With the approval of the competent authority, Dr Muhammad Zubair and his team have recently rescheduled the timing of the opening and closing of all gates used for the movement of the vehicular traffic. The decision has been taken after the unfortunate incident occurred on the campus on April 26, 2022.

According to him, Golden Jubilee Gate (Metroville Gate) will be closed for all kind of traffic after 8 pm, while Maskan Gate would be opened till 10 pm, whereas Silver Jubilee Gate will operate during the working hours (class timing of morning and evening shifts) and Staff Gate will be open 24 hours a day and people will be allowed to enter and leave the university after the necessary procedures.
