PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa political, social activist lawyer Barrister Mohammad Shehzad Khan has urged the youth, especially the students to learn digital skills in the modern age of internet for personal and societal development.
While addressing the students on the subjects related to human rights, legal awareness and role of young people in the society, Barrister Khan said that youth role is very important for the development of the country.
“Learning the digital skills is very important,” he said, pointing out that such skills can be very helpful in highlighting the human rights issues. He said that the legal awareness can also be spread for public awareness through these skills.
His engagement with the Metrix Youth Summit has taken him to youth gatherings in different parts of the province, including Abbottabad, Peshawar and Lower Dir, where he has spoken to student audiences.
“No change is possible without active role of the society, and this is what I have said at various events in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said the social activist. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the youth that they must understand their rights and then come forward to spread awareness among the people around them, so the society could progress in true sense.
The world, he said, is changing fast with the advent of the modern technology.
“We are witnessing change. The information spread so fast that it quickly reaches the targeted audience. There are many platforms on the social media including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Thread.
“These modern social media platforms are the best platforms for the youth. Using them wisely can bring positive change to any society,” said Barrister Mohammad Shehzad Khan.
Khan goes beyond the speaking engagement with the young people as he prioritises training and educating them to ensure that they would play active role in the society. Perhaps, it is the reason that more than 5,000 individuals have been reached through various educational and training activities.
He said, “If you want to do social work or you want to make people aware about their rights or want to do any other good work then you should focus the modern communication platforms and tools, so the goal could easily be achieved,”.
Barrister Mohammad Shehzad Khan also addressed questions concerning education, technology, legal knowledge and opportunities available to young people.
“My own online presence with substantial followers is an evidence that playing role for positive change in the society is just a step away. You can motivate people and guide them for their personal growth and societal development,” he stated.
He said that “On X, formerly known as Twitter, my username @MshehzadSpeaks has approximately 203,000 followers. This is just a beginning. MyTikTok with username @barristershehzadkhan is also helping me reach maximum people,”.
He said that many people easily reached out to them through these platforms, and he tries his best to guide and help them for their concerns. The students, he said, also approach him to seek information about legal issues and educational objectives.
The training side, he said, involved technology and digital skills as thousands of individuals took part in or benefited from different educational and skills-related activities associated with him.
His public activities therefore cover several areas rather than a single field. Human rights advocacy, legal awareness, youth engagement, technology education and political participation have all featured in his public profile.
