Ruling out the possibility of imposition of financial emergency in the province, the Caretaker set up of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday approved provincial budget amounting to Rs.529.118 billion for further four months thus totalling the amount approved by the Caretakers to Rs992.055 billion for the financial year 2023-24.
The Caretaker government of KP led by the Chief Minister Mohammad Azam Khan, it may be recalled had earlier approved Rs462.939 billion for the first four months i.e. July 2023 to October 2023.
Under the receipts head the budget estimates for 2023-24 under federal transfers is Rs895,144.91 million that includes Rs292,244.39 million four months i.e. July-October 2023 whereas the receipts for second four months starting November 23 to February 2024 is Rs298,381.64 respectively. The net-Hydel profit budget estimates for 2023-24 is Rs81,961.19 million while receipts for first four months are Rs28,357.43 million and second four months is Rs27,320.37 million.
While a complete ban on creation of new posts excluded completed development projects and purchase of vehicles except ambulances was intact, the caretakers set up declared that there was no proposal for deduction or withdrawal of allowances from the salaries of Government employees.
“The provincial cabinet that met with Chief Minister in the Chair has authorized Rs529.118 billion expenditure for the second four months starting from November 1, 2023 to 29th February 2024 showing 14pc increase as compared to Rs462.939 billion of the first four months”. Caretaker KP Minister for Finance, Ahmad Rasool Bangash told newsmen here at the committee room of the civil secretariat.
