ISLAMABAD – More trouble for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as court issued arrest warrants in the recovery of liquor and illegal arms.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Chishti turned down CM’s request for exemption from personal appearance and directed police officials to ensure his presence at the next hearing, scheduled for next week.
The court proceedings come as part of ongoing probe into multiple charges against PTI leader. In a separate hearing same day, the court also took up cases linked to Azadi March, which involve senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) figures and party workers.
Summons were issued for Ali Amin Gandapur and Shafqat Mahmood after challans in those cases were submitted in court. For other accused who failed to appear, the magistrate issued bailable arrest warrants and adjourned the hearing until July 24. These cases were filed at Bara Kahu police station, listing several PTI leaders and activists.
Meanwhile, Additional Sessions Judge Nasr Minullah Baloch heard proceedings in the audio leak case against Gandapur. The chief minister’s legal team, led by Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, submitted a petition seeking exemption from appearance, citing a bail order from the Peshawar High Court valid until September 23.
The defence also requested that the court postpone the indictment for an extended period. The judge granted the request, rescheduling the hearing for September 29.
