PESHAWAR –The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has extended the ban on gold mining for another 30 days, according to a notification issued by the provincial Home Department.

The department stated that the ban, imposed under Section 144, will remain effective for the next 30 days and will apply to areas along the Indus and Kabul rivers, particularly in Swabi, Nowshera, Kohat, and adjoining regions where illegal mining activities have been reported.

The notification added that illegal gold mining has been damaging riverbanks and posing risks to public safety and law and order. Authorities warned that such unauthorized activities could also lead to local disputes and potential smuggling.

To ensure strict enforcement, the Home Department has authorised district administrations and police to seize machinery, vehicles, and equipment being used in illegal gold mining operations.

Gold Prices in Pakistan Today

The price of gold in Pakistan saw another sharp decline on Tuesday, dropping by Rs14,000 per tola, according to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA).

Following the latest decrease, the price of gold stands at Rs416,362 per tola. Similarly, the rate of 10 grams of gold has fallen by Rs12,003, bringing it down to Rs356,963.

The association reported that the international gold price also fell significantly, down by $140to reach $3,940 per ounce.

On October 17, 2025, gold had reached an all-time high of Rs456,900 per tola in Pakistan. However, over the past 11 days, the precious metal has lost Rs40,500 from its peak value, marking one of the steepest declines in recent months.
