Incarcerated All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt has said that the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination struggle is based on the principles of truth and justice and India will never succeed to suppress it through its military might.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Masarrat Aalam Butt in a message from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail said the Kashmir dispute is an unfinished agenda of the partition of Indian subcontinent in 1947 and durable peace in the region and the world cannot be ensured without settling it in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The APHC Chairman urged the United Nations to impress upon India to stop its state terrorism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and give the Kashmiri people their birthright to self-determination.

He reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to take the ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion, adding a people’s movement based on the historical facts, universal legitimacy and moral and political support of the international community is bound to succeed despite the oppressive and suppressive measures adopted by the Indian forces.

Masarrat Aalam Butt also expressed grave concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in the occupied territory and stressed the early settlement of the Kashmir dispute according to the United Nations resolutions.

He urged the UN to take serious cognizance of the use of brute force by India against the people of IIOJK to suppress their legitimate demand for right to self-determination and put pressure on New Delhi to stop arbitrary arrests and other gross human rights violations in the occupied territory.—KMS
