Wahab directs special arrangements for water supply during MuharramStaff ReporterOn the instructions of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, CEO Water Corporation Engineer Syed Sallahuddin Ahmed issued orders to the Water Corporation officials to make special arrangements in connection with Muharram.
In this regard, a high level meeting was held at MD Secretariat Karsaz, COO Corporation Engineer Asadullah Khan, Chief Engineer Sewerage Aftab Alam Chandio, Incharge Hydrants Cell Elahi Bakhsh Bhutto,, all Superintendent Engineers including all Executive Engineers of Water and Sewerage participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the CEO of Water Corporation gave orders and said that during Muharram, the district administration, municipal administration, elected public representatives, including all relevant departments, especially Shia scholars and leaders of the Jafaria Alliance should be in full cooperation with them, In addition to this.
During Muharram effective measures should be taken for water supply and drainage throughout the city, especially in all Mosques, Imam Bargahs, Majlis, Sabils and procession routes and cleaning of sewage overflow should be ensured by keeping ring slabs and covers on all open manholes, water leakage on main roads and public places should be stopped, especially the routes of Muharram processions should be kept completely clean, so that citizens and mourners do not face any kind of problem.
He instructed the incharge hydrants cell and said that during Muharram, the concerned district administration, elected public representatives, law enforcement agencies including Mosques, Imam Bargahs, Majlis, Sabils and procession routes should provide required water tankers to meet the need of drinking water for the public.
CEO Water Corporation issued instructions to all Chief Engineers and Superintendent Engineers to inspect their respective areas to identify Mosques, Imam Bargahs, Majlis, Sabils and procession routes while all Executive Engineers along with their subordinate staff remained on high alert with jetting and suction machines, to deal with an emergency.
He further said that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard, because providing better facilities to the citizens is one of our top priorities.On the other hand, Chief Engineer Sewerage Aftab Alam Chandio and Focal Person for Hydrants Cell Shahbaz Bashir have been nominated as focal persons in this matter on the direction of CEO Water Corporation.
