Karachi board intermediate part-I candidates to get additional 15% marks; details inside

KARACHI – The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has decided to give additional marks up to 15 percent to candidates of intermediate Part-I in examination results 2023.

The decision was taken on the directives Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar in line with recommendations of the fact-finding committee, which was set up to probe Part-I students’ getting unusually low marks in examinations this year.

The government removed the BIEK IT section head soon after the fact-finding committee submitted its report.

Who will Get 15% Additional Marks in Results 2023?

The chief minister said the students of pre-engineering, pre-medical and general science would be given 15% extra marks, a decision that will improve the grades of the students.

Furthermore, the Sindh CM has directed the authorities to establish more papers inspection centre in order to make the process smooth. It added that the MCQ-based papers should be checked with an optical marks recognition system to avoid mistakes.

He said that the controller of examinations, all deputy controllers and the IT manager were responsible for conducting the exams 2023.

On January 23, the BIEK declared the results for the intermediate Part-I examination, showing a sharp decline in the performance of the students.

The official statistics revealed that 80% of candidates failed in Arts (Regular), 72% failed in Arts (Private) and 63% failed in Commerce (Private) groups.
