The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced the temporary closure of the main runway at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. The closure aims to facilitate the removal of rubber debris accumulated from aircraft tires, ensuring a secure and smooth travel experience for passengers. Scheduled to commence from April 4 and extend until May 3, the month-long closure will occur during specific hours on weekdays, from Monday to Friday.

This strategic approach enables the CAA to address safety concerns while minimizing disruption to flight operations. Under the outlined plan, each weekday will feature a unique closure schedule, allowing for maximum efficiency.

The closure hours vary from 9 am to 11:30 am on Mondays, 8 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesdays, 9 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesdays, 7:30 am to 10 am on Thursdays, and 9 am to 11:30 am on Fridays. Weekends provide a reprieve from the closure activities, with no work scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays.

Despite the main runway’s temporary unavailability, flight operations remain unaffected, as flights are redirected to the secondary runway to maintain seamless travel schedules for passengers.
