Electricity consumers across Pakistan will face another increase in their power bills as National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved positive Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) of Rs0.3364 per unit for electricity consumed in May 2026, to be recovered through July 2026 bills.

According to S.R.O. 1690(I)/2026, issued on July 8, 2026, the regulator determined that the Actual Fuel Charges Component for May 2026 stood at Rs8.7679 per kWh, compared to the Reference Fuel Charges Component of Rs8.4315 per kWh, resulting in an additional Rs0.3364 per unit charge.

The notification states that the adjustment will be applicable to consumers of K-Electric (KE) and Ex-WAPDA Distribution Companies (XWDISCOs) under the Federal Government’s policy guidelines for uniform Fuel Charges Adjustments.

However, the consumer categories of Lifeline consumers, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and Prepaid electricity consumers using prepaid tariffs have been exempted.

The regulator also clarified that FCA will also apply to electricity consumed under Incremental Consumption Package.

NEPRA directed XWDISCOs and K-Electric to recover the approved FCA in July 2026 billing, with the adjustment to be shown as a separate line item based on electricity units consumed during May 2026. If any July bills were issued before the notification, the adjustment may be recovered through subsequent bills.
