Islamabad Weather Alert Rain Hailstorms Expected In Twin Cities This Weekend

ISLAMABAD — Islamabad and parts of Pakistan are expected to experience rains over the weekend, with thunderstorms and gusty winds forecast to affect the federal capital and surrounding areas.

The expected maximum temperature is forecast to fall from 30–32°C on Saturday to around 29–31°C on Sunday and Monday. This suggests some daytime relief, but the capital is not expected to experience a major cold spell.

Residents should prepare for changing weather conditions, as isolated hailstorms and heavy rainfall are also possible. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has attributed the expected conditions to a westerly weather system affecting upper and central parts of the country. The forecast covers Saturday, October 10, through Monday, October 12, with rain and thunderstorms expected at intervals.

Day Expected weather Max Temp.
Saturday night Partly cloudy, rain and thunderstorms 30–32°C
Sunday, Oct 11 Partly cloudy, rain and thunderstorms 29–31°C
Monday, Oct 12 Rain and thunderstorms possible 29–31°C

The forecast shows modest decline in daytime temperatures, although conditions may remain warm between periods of rain. The timing and intensity of rainfall may vary across the capital. Will Islamabad Receive Heavy Rain or Hailstorms?

Met Office has warned that isolated locations could experience hailstorms and heavy downpours alongside thunderstorms and strong winds.

Rain and strong winds may make driving more difficult. Allow extra travel time, reduce speed on wet roads and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. Secure loose items on rooftops, balconies and terraces. Park vehicles away from weak structures, unstable trees and billboards where possible.

The weather department has cautioned that strong winds, lightning and hailstorms could damage vulnerable structures, including the roofs and walls of mud houses, electricity poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels. Standing crops in affected agricultural areas could also suffer damage.

During lightning, avoid open fields, rooftops and isolated trees. If driving conditions deteriorate significantly, pull over at a safe location away from trees and electrical infrastructure.

Residents should follow official PMD updates for changes in rainfall timing, storm intensity and temperature forecasts.

Bottom line: Islamabad residents should prepare for a potentially wet and stormy weekend, with temperatures remaining near 29–32°C and isolated hailstorms possible. Keeping travel plans flexible and taking precautions against strong winds and lightning will help minimise weather-related risks.
