Islamabad Traffic Police shared traffic management plan ahead of the central Eid Milad-un-Nabi SAW procession, with major diversions planned across several key roads to ensure the safe movement of participants and keep traffic flowing in the capital.
The central procession will start from Rahmat Community Centre Ground in G-7 and move through Jamia Masjid Al-Raza, G-7/3, Jamia Masjid Al-Habib and Street 55, before reaching the service road toward Iqbal Hall. From there, the procession will pass through Saddar, Melody Chowk and Aabpara, eventually concluding at the Soharwardi-Sakhi Mehmood Shrine.
Traffic Diversions
Traffic heading from Sitara Market toward Iqbal Hall will be diverted. Traffic coming from the service road near Dak Khana Stop and the Fire Brigade area have been directed to use Soharwardi Road, Zero Point and Faisal Avenue. Traffic moving from Iqbal Hall toward G-7/3/1 and Razia Shareef Plaza will also face diversions, with Seventh Avenue designated as an alternative route.
Another major diversion will affect traffic approaching Kulsum Plaza from Fazal-e-Haq Road and China Chowk. Motorists have been advised to use Jinnah Avenue instead.
Shahdara to Aabpara traffic plan
The traffic restrictions will also extend across the Shahdara Chowk–GPO Chowk–Melody–Aabpara Chowk corridor, where traffic will be diverted at different points.
Citizens travelling through the area have been advised to use Shaheed-e-Millat Road from GPO Chowk to avoid congestion around the procession route. Meanwhile, traffic travelling from Aabpara Chowk toward Soharwardi Road and the Seventh Avenue Interchange will also be diverted.
Motorists coming from Zero Point and Rawalpindi have specifically been advised to use Seventh Avenue, Faisal Avenue and Srinagar Highway.
Islamabad Traffic Police urged citizens to plan their journeys in advance and avoid unnecessary travel along the procession route while restrictions remain in place. The traffic plan has been designed to achieve two key objectives: protect the participants of the Eid Milad-un-Nabi SAW procession and prevent major disruption to traffic across the capital.
