Pakistan Denies Supporting Armed Groups in Badakhshan

Pakistan has rejected baseless allegations of Afghan Taliban that Pakistani forces assisted or operated alongside armed groups involved in clashes in Badakhshan.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid had claimed that Pakistani authorities were directly involved in the unrest in the northern Afghan province.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting rejected the allegation, saying there was no credible evidence to support the claim.

“Nothing can be farther than this from the truth,” the ministry said in a statement shared on X, describing the accusation as a baseless narrative.
According to the ministry, the unrest in Badakhshan stems from Afghanistan’s own security and governance problems rather than any Pakistani intervention.

It said independent reports have portrayed the clashes as an armed challenge to what they describe as the Taliban’s exclusionary and repressive rule, with no evidence linking Pakistan to the fighting.

The ministry stressed that Pakistan has consistently advocated peace and stability in Afghanistan and has no intention of undermining its neighbouring country.

It urged the Taliban regime to focus on addressing problems arising from their own governance instead of attributing Afghanistan’s internal difficulties to Pakistan, adding that unsupported allegations cannot replace verifiable facts.
