ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced construction of a new underpass in Islamabad to improve traffic flow.
Chairing a meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, Naqvi said a “smart underpass” will be built at Kashmir Chowk.
He has sought the final design for the underpass within 10 days from the authorities and also called for details regarding the long-vacant commercial plots in Islamabad.
Another significant development is the construction of a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Islamabad. The interior minister has demanded the final design for the stadium within the same timeframe.
Further decisions include allocating specific areas for a National Park, expanding the Safe City Project, and constructing a five-star hotel with the help of renowned companies.
A special team will also be formed for solid waste management, and land will be allocated for law enforcement headquarters.
Naqvi emphasized that operations against encroachments in Islamabad would continue with full force, and the reclaimed land would be used for public benefit.
In addition, proposals for a new convention center and the allocation of land for the headquarters of the Federal Constabulary, Rangers, and Islamabad Traffic Police are under review.
