Islamabad Police Announce New Timings For Entry Of Heavy Vehicles

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced new restrictions on heavy traffic in the federal capital, limiting its entry to nighttime hours only.

Effective immediately, heavy vehicles will be permitted to enter the city only between midnight (12:00 am) and 5:00 am. This move is aimed at reducing congestion and improving traffic flow during peak daytime hours.

In addition to the restrictions on heavy vehicles, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad has emphasized a complete ban on the use of dark-tinted windows in vehicles. Individuals found violating this rule will face strict legal action. The authorities have also warned of severe penalties for motorcycles carrying more than two passengers.

To further streamline public transport and ensure passenger safety, immediate meetings will be held with all bus terminal owners and managers.

A key measure outlined is that public transport vehicles will be prohibited from picking up or dropping off passengers at unauthorized locations. Bus owners are also required to issue tickets to passengers before allowing them to board.

The authorities will also hold discussions with owners and managers of freight vehicles (trucks), stressing the need to unload goods only at designated locations. These measures are designed to ensure better compliance with traffic regulations and improve road safety, traffic flow, and law and order within the city.

These efforts are part of a broader initiative to create a more organized and efficient transportation system in the capital, aiming to enhance public safety.
