Islamabad Pakistan Weather Rain Expected Over Next Two Days

Significant rains with isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Monday night and the next two days, with occasional breaks.

Synoptic Situation

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a low-pressure area lies over Southeast Rajasthan & adjoining north Gujarat. It is likely to move further west-southwestward during the next 24 to 36 hours. A westerly wave is also affecting upper and central parts of the country. 

Forecast

Under these conditions, significant rains with isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Upper Punjab, and southeastern Sindh on Monday night and the next two days, with occasional breaks. Light rain may occur at isolated places in central/southern Punjab. 

Possible Impacts

Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in southeastern Sindh (Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Mithi, Umerkot, Thatta, Badin), Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Lahore.

Widespread rains may generate flash floods in local streams/ nullahs in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Landslides may occur in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir. Windstorm, hailstorm & lightning may damage weak structures like solar panels, electric poles, billboards. 

Temperatures

Daytime temperatures in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Monday Weather

Over the past 24 hours, mainly hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country. However, rains occur at isolated places in lower Sindh, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

Islamabad recorded a maximum temperature of 35°C with evening humidity at 66 per cent.

Rawalpindi recorded a maximum temperature of 34°C with morning humidity at 50 per cent.
