Petrol price hits Rs380 in Pakistan as Middle East crisis disrupts global oil supply. To cushion the impact on ordinary Pakistanis, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced PM Fuel Relief Scheme offering an instant discount of Rs. 100 per litre on petrol for motorcycles, rickshaws, and small cars up to 800cc.

PM Fuel Relief Scheme

PM Fuel Relief Scheme is a government fuel subsidy programme designed to protect low- and middle-income vehicle owners from rising petrol prices. Eligible citizens register once via SMS, request a fuel token before visiting a petrol pump, and redeem that token for petrol at a discounted rate, Rs. 100 cheaper per litre than the prevailing market price.

The scheme is verified electronically through NADRA and provincial Excise & Transport department records, so approval is automatic and based on registered vehicle and CNIC data, with no manual applications or middlemen involved.

How to Register: Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Register via SMS

Send a single SMS to 9771 in the following format:

REG <CNIC> <Vehicle Registration Number> <Province Code> <Registration Date>

Province codes:

Code Province/Region
P Punjab
S Sindh
K Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
B Balochistan
I Islamabad
A Azad Jammu & Kashmir
G Gilgit-Baltistan

Date format: Use DDMMYYYY — day (2 digits), month (2 digits), year (4 digits), with no spaces or symbols in between. For example, September 2, 2026 becomes 02092026.

SMS charges of Rs. 1.25 (plus tax) apply. Once registration succeeds, you’ll receive a confirmation SMS. Registration is a one-time process — you won’t need to repeat it.

Step 2: Request Your Fuel Token

Before heading to a petrol pump, send TOK to 9771. You will receive an SMS containing your 10-digit token number.

  • Motorcycles/three-wheelers: token valid for 7 days
  • Cars up to 800cc: token valid for 10 days

You cannot request a new token while a previous one is still active — you must either use it or let it expire first.

Step 3: Redeem Discounted Petrol at the Pump

Show your token number to the pump attendant. They will enter your vehicle registration number and token into a verification app, which confirms the match and applies the Rs. 100/litre discount automatically. You’ll receive a final confirmation SMS once the transaction is complete.

How Much Relief Will You Get?

Vehicle Type Discount Fuel Quota Token Validity Total Savings
Motorcycles & three-wheelers Rs. 100/litre 5 litres 7 days Rs. 500 per token
Cars up to 800cc Rs. 100/litre 10 litres 10 days Rs. 1,000 per token

The discount is applied to whatever the official petrol rate is on the day you redeem your token — so your final payable amount moves with fuel prices, but the Rs. 100 per litre saving stays fixed.

FAQs

Can I register from any mobile number?

No. The number you text from must be registered under the same CNIC entered in the message.

Can someone else use my token for a different vehicle?

No. Verification matches the token to your specific vehicle registration number, so it cannot be transferred or reused for another vehicle.

What happens if I don’t use my token before it expires?

It simply expires. You can then request a new token once the applicable waiting period (7 or 10 days) has passed.

Is the discount fixed at Rs. 100 no matter the pump price?

Yes, Rs. 100 per litre is deducted from whatever the official petrol price is on the day you redeem your token.

Does registration close once tokens start being issued?

No. Registration remains open on an ongoing basis nationwide, even after the scheme becomes active in your area.
