Cold and dry weather is expected to persist in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and most parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening and night, as well as for the next two days.
Persistent dryness and a decrease in temperatures will likely increase the intensity and duration of fog in Punjab, Upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this week.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave prevails over the western and northern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening/night and the next two days. Very cold weather is expected in hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog/smog is likely to persist over Punjab, Upper Sindh and the plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Fog intensity and duration will gradually increase during this week.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 02°C to 04°C on Wednesday and between 01°C to 03°C on Thursday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05°C to 07°C on Wednesday and between 04°C to 06°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in the twin cities and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Very cold weather prevailed in hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog/smog persisted in Punjab, Upper Sindh and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Leh remained the coldest place in the country, where the temperature dropped 05°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Skardu, Bagrote, Gupis and Kalat was recorded at -02°C.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 04°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 07°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 74 per cent.
