ISLAMABAD – Authorities have announced a whooping increase in fares of metro bus services in Islamabad, putting an additional burden on travellers.

A new fare policy will take effect from May 26, 2025, under which a uniform fare of Rs. 100 per trip has been set for the Green Line, Blue Line, and electric feeder routes.

Previously, fares on various routes ranged between Rs 50 and Rs90. However, officials say the fare revision was inevitable due to rising operational costs, increased fuel prices, and the need to maintain service quality.

Public reaction has been mixed with some citizens called the fare hike an economic burden, while others viewed it as a necessary step for improved facilities.

Authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation.
