Islamabad is expected to host delegations of the United States and Iran next week, with officials expressing hope that a peace agreement could be reached soon.
In a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that while he could not disclose the content of messages exchanged between the two countries, Pakistan remains optimistic about a positive outcome.
He added that it is not yet clear whether the agreement will be a single-page document or a longer accord.
On the other hand, reports suggested that Islamabad could host the second round of US-Iran talks next week, signaling Pakistan’s ongoing role in facilitating dialogue between the two nations.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism that the ongoing conflict with Iran could be resolved quickly, emphasizing that preventing Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon remains a top priority.
Speaking at a tele-rally in support of Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Burt Jones, Trump said, “When you look at the kind of things that are happening, we are doing that for one very important reason: We cannot allow them to have a nuclear weapon… it’ll be over quickly.”
Trump also told reporters that recent discussions with Iran over the past 24 hours had been productive and that a potential deal between Washington and Tehran was possible.
The President stressed that diplomacy remains the preferred approach, although he is not willing to be “rushed into a bad deal,” according to US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott.
Pigott affirmed, “Trump is going to make a good deal for the American people… Make no mistake that Trump means what he says when he says the Iranian regime can never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.”
In a separate statement, Trump indicated that the United States would secure enriched uranium from Iran as part of ongoing negotiations to end the conflict in the Gulf, signaling progress toward a potential agreement.
