Islamabad experiences coldest day of season

ISLAMABAD – Parts of Pakistan including the twin cities remained in the grip of cold weather on Monday with experts predicting the harsh conditions to persist during the next couple of days.

On Monday, Islamabad experienced the coldest day of the current winter as the mercury dropped to 03 degrees Celsius.

According to the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave persists over western parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of the country on Monday evening/night and the next two days.
Freezing and partly cloudy weather is expected in northern parts during the period.

Fog/smog will likely occur in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.
Less visibility may cause the closure of portions of Motorways and disrupt traffic on National highway from late night till early morning.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03 C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04-06 C on Tuesday and 03-05 C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.
Freezing and partly cloudy weather prevailed over northern areas.
Skardu remained the coldest place in the country where the mercury dropped 08 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 92 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 67 per cent.
