MELBOURNE – Shan Masood, the Pakistan Test team captain, spoke about the exclusion of Sarfaraz Ahmed from the squad, emphasizing that the term “drop” is a harsh way to describe the situation, and the management has provided Sarfaraz with some comfort.

Shan Masood explained that the decision to choose Mohammad Rizwan over Sarfaraz was influenced by the prevailing playing conditions.

He stressed the difficulty in using the term “drop” for Sarfaraz and assured that the management has approached the situation with sensitivity.

The test team captain expressed confidence that Sarfaraz Ahmed would have opportunities in matches where the conditions are favorable for him.

Masood also highlighted the need for improvement in the team’s batting performance. He emphasized that when the team is playing for 100 overs, the batters need to play with increased pace. Besides it, Masood acknowledged the challenges faced by fast bowlers in Test cricket, citing the distinct load and intensity compared to domestic cricket, which can result in injuries.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan made changes in its squad as it replaced Sarfraz Ahmed with Muhammad Rizwan ahead of the 2nd Test match against Australia.
