A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to take revenge on the United States and Israel for the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declaring that the incident will never be forgotten.
Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Iran remains committed to delivering justice and an appropriate response against those responsible, specifically accusing the United States and Israel of carrying out the attack. He referred to the US military as a “child-killing army” and said those behind the assassination would be held accountable.
In a statement published by the IRGC-affiliated Sepah News Agency, Vahidi asserted that the killing of Khamenei would not weaken Iran’s resolve or the broader Resistance Front. He said those he described as enemies of the Islamic Revolution had failed in any attempt to undermine the movement through what he called a cowardly assassination.
He further stressed that seeking revenge for those killed and ensuring punishment for the perpetrators would remain a permanent and legitimate objective for Iran.
Vahidi’s remarks were made after Khamenei was laid to rest in his hometown of Mashhad on Thursday, four months after he and four members of his family were killed in US-Israeli air strikes.
