QUETTA – Pakistan’s security forces intensified Operation Shaban after terror wave on Mangi Dam Police Station, with security officials claiming that dozens of militants have been killed so far as ground and aerial operations continue across Balochistan’s rugged terrain.
According to security sources, the joint operation, being carried out by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police, expanded significantly since its launch, with forces tightening the cordon around suspected militant hideouts.
Officials said 26 militants, identified by security sources as members of Fitna al-Khawarij, were killed during operations on July 6 and 7. Over the past 24 hours, security forces reportedly killed 13 more militants, raising the total death toll in Operation Shaban to 39.
Security sources added that troops continue to conduct coordinated ground assaults supported by helicopter operations in difficult mountainous areas, where efforts are underway to eliminate the remaining militants.
Meanwhile, security officials said an attempted terrorist attack on a police station in the Zaidi area of Khuzdar was successfully foiled on Thursday morning. According to the sources, Pakistan Army and FC personnel responded immediately, killing eight militants during the initial engagement. Helicopter operations that followed reportedly resulted in the deaths of an additional five to six militants.
Security sources further claimed that since July 5, a total of 75 militants have been killed across Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations carried out in the region.
No independent confirmation of the reported casualty figures was immediately available, and authorities have not released details of any casualties among security personnel during the latest operations.
