Pakistani rescue teams recovered debris from a K2 Airways cargo plane that went missing while approaching Karachi, with efforts continuing to locate the five crew members on board. The wreckage was found in the Arabian Sea, about 53 nautical miles (98 kilometres) south of Ormara, during a joint operation by the Pakistan Navy and civilian rescue teams.

Officials said the aircraft’s main fuselage has not yet been located and may require specialised deep-sea equipment for recovery. The 27-year-old Boeing 737 freighter reportedly developed a navigation system problem shortly after 9:18 p.m. PST 16:18 GMT before losing contact with air traffic control.

Flight-tracking data showed sharp altitude changes before the aircraft entered its final descent. The missing crew members have been identified as Captain Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Jatoi, Flight Engineers Muhammad Hamid and Muhammad Arif Siddiqui, and Aircraft Loader Muhammad Taufiq Khan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sympathy with the crew’s families and directed authorities to use all available resources in the ongoing search operation.
