Interfaith harmony message should be addressed through knowledge: Aneeq

In collaboration with Iqra University, a seminar on Religious Minorities and Interfaith Social Tolerance in Pakistan was organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony at Iqra University Karachi on Thursday. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Aneeq Ahmed attended as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister said that all human beings were family of Almighty Allah and the message of interfaith harmony should be addressed through knowledge and evidence.

The Minister also commended the role of Ulema for raising voices against the intolerable acts in society.

The Federal Minister said that these events of interfaith harmony were organized in cities but in future we would conduct them in rural areas including colleges and schools as well. Mufti Abubakar Mohiuddin, Naib Raees Dar ul Ifta, Jamia Islamia Clifton, Karachi, while sharing his thoughts said that subjects like social tolerance were crucial to be discussed among new generations.

He stressed that no religion taught hatred and negativity among its believers. Patron in chief of Pakistan Sikh Council, Sardar Ramesh Singh said that the beauty of Pakistan laid in the fact that all the citizens of this country live with basic rights. Manoj Chouhan, representative of Hindu Community Karachi, stated that every human had his or her own religious beliefs.

He further said that all the human beings were worthy of respect regardless of religion. Cardinal Joseph Coutts, Cardinal Pope of Vatican and Archdiocese of Karachi thanked the Government of Pakistan for such initiatives in spearheading the message of interfaith harmony.

Vice Chancellor of IU Karachi, Professor Dr. Nassar said that the students in Iqra University were taught to respect everyone irrespective of different cultures and religions. Minister and guests were awarded the memento shields at the conclusion of the seminar.
