ISLAMABAD – Intense heatwaves will likely persist across Pakistan till May 24.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a high pressure will continue to prevail in upper atmosphere during the current week.
Under the influence of this meteorological condition, intense heatwaves will continue to prevail across Pakistan till May 24.
Day temperatures will likely remain between 04°C to 06°C above normal levels in southern half (Sindh, southern Punjab and Balochistan) during the period.
Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C to 07°C above normal levels in upper half (Islamabad, central & upper Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan).
Gusty winds are expected in plain areas due to excessive heating during the forecast period.
Possible Impacts and advice: General public especially children, women and senior citizens are advised to take precautionary measures.Avoid exposure to direct sunlight during the daytime and remain hydrated.
Farmers are advised to manage their crop activities keeping in view the latest weather conditions and take care of their livestock as well. Rising temperatures in northern areas may enhance snowmelt rate during the forecast period. Judicious use of water is advised in all fields of life.
