In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided an NGO office of jailed human rights defender Khurram Parvez in Budgam district. A team of NIA along with Indian paramilitary personnel conducted searches at the NGO office in Dandoosa area of the district. The office, run by Khurram Parvez in the past, was closed for a long time.
An official confirming the raid said, “Yes, the NIA team conducted searches at the NGO office at Dandoosa Budgam, some documents have been seized during searches”.
Khurram Parvez, the program coordinator of Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Societies (JKCCS) and chairperson of Philippines-based NGO Asian Federation against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD), has been in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail following his arrest by the NIA in November 2021 for his human rights work, particularly for documentation of human rights violations by Indian troops in IIOJK. He was chargesheeted along with six others on May 13 last year.—KMS
