ISLAMABAD – What started as a routine training sortie turned into a scene of panic and chaos as Indian Air Force’s PC-7 trainer aircraft faltered mid-flight.
Residents of Chennai’s Chengalpattu looked up to see the jet losing height fast, its engine sputtering like wounded bird. In the final critical seconds, the pilot managed to get out, his parachute blooming against the blazing afternoon light.
After blast at the site, it turned out that an Indian Air Force Pilatus PC-7 Mk II trainer aircraft crashed near Tambaram during a standard training sortie at around 14:25 hours. The aircraft went down, but in a miraculous escape, the pilot ejected just in time, saving his life.

Moments after the crash, the footage from the scene surfaced online. The clip shows aircraft’s wreckage scattered across ground, with stunned locals gathering around the debris as emergency teams rushed in.
Indian Air Force issued an official confirmation, announcing that pilot is safe, and no civilian lives or property were harmed. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to determine what caused the sudden mid-air emergency
