An India army captain died due to drowning under suspicious circumstances during training in a pond located at Samelpur, Badi Brahmana in Samba district of Jammu region.
The police are ascertaining the actual reasons for the death. The post-mortem of the dead body was conducted at GMC Hospital so that the cause of his death could be ascertained.
The Indian army is also investigating at its level. Captain Nidesh Singh Yadav, resident of Nand village, Bhiwani, Haryana, posted in 18 Sikh Lai of the Army, along with his comrades had gone from Domana (Battalion Headquarters) of Jammu to Samelpur in Badi Brahmana for training at Samelpur Talab. During this, as soon as Nidesh Singh reached the middle of the pond, he suddenly became unconscious. He went into the water. His other companions immediately took Nidesh out of the pond.
In the preliminary investigation, the doctors declared Captain dead. Since the Captain died under suspicious cir-cumstances, Badi Brahmana informed the police following which the police initiated legal action in the matter. —KMS
SHO Badi Brahmana Inderpal Singh said that the cause of death would be known in the post-mortem report.
It is worth mentioning here that incidents of rivalry among Indian army personnel have been massively reported in the past. Police are also investigating on this account.—KMS
