In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement, Khawaja Firdous, has said that India has failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom despite exhausting all brutal tactics including torture, arrests and massacres.

Khawaja Firdous in a statement issued in Srina-gar said that the Kashmiri people are determined to continue their freedom movement till its logical conclusion.

He said that Indian occupation forces were inflicting the worst atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris including youth in the occupied territory.

The Hurriyat leader said that despite the severe cold weather, large number of youth was illegally detained during raids by Indian troops on their houses in the valley.

Khawaja Firdous expressed grave concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees languishing in jails and appealed to the international human rights or-ganizations to put pressure on India to release them immediately.

He said that Kashmir issue is a reality and India cannot escape from this reality. Without resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the resolutions of the United Nations, lasting peace could not be estab-lished in South Asia, he stressed.—INP
