ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is likely to be shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, a local private TV reported on Thursday.
The preparations, it reported while citing the official sources, are underway at the hospital.
Imran Khan’s likely shufting to PIMS has increased after the government’s legal move if it’s review petition is allowed by the apex court.
The preparations have taken place just a day after the federal government challenged the Supreme Court decision regarding shifting Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International hospital.
The sources familiar with the matter were quoted as saying that the consultations between relevant officials are continuing. The authorities are assessing various aspects of the likely transfer, including medical requirements, security arrangements and administrative procedures.
The meeting also reviewed arrangements for establishing a medical board at PIMS to examine Imran Khan and determine the treatment and medical care he may require. The hospital authorities have reportedly been directed to make the necessary preparations in case the transfer is approved.
The sources said the preparations have already started at PIMS for Imran Khan’s possible arrival. The preparations include arrangements for his medical examination and treatment, as well as security measures around the hospital.
The possible transfer comes amid continued attention to the former prime minister’s health and medical care. Imran Khan is currently in Adiala Jail and any decision regarding his transfer to a hospital would involve coordination among the relevant authorities.
The court has yet to take up the appeal of the government.
Until then, Khan’s transfer to PIMS remains a possibility rather than a confirmed move.
