LAHORE – Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim on Friday clarified that he did not discuss his return to the national team with Pakistan’s T20I captain Shaheen Shah Afridi while he was playing in the International League T20 (ILT20).

Imad Wasim advised Shaheen Afridi to prioritize Pakistan’s welfare while acting on his emotions.

He expressed these words during an interview with a local news outlet.

Imad Wasim stated that Shaheen Afridi is like a younger brother to him, and he would advise him to prioritize everything that is in the best interest of Pakistan. There are people around him who can give him good advice.

The 35-year-old cricketer also discussed the T20I series against New Zealand, where Pakistan lost 4-1 and highlighted how Babar Azam’s consistent performance earned him a good batting position despite being at the third spot.

Furthermore, he pointed out that Shaheen Afridi made a significant move by experimenting with various opening pairs. It would be wise for him to continue experimenting with different combinations before the World Cup.

It is worth noting that Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket last year, ending an eight-year international career that surprised everyone. He decided to continue playing in leagues and is currently participating in the ILT20 for the Abu Dhabi Night Riders, where he is also playing for the Desert Vipers.
