Sindh Inspector General of Police GhulamNabiMemon has stressed the urgent need to enforce the Habitual Offenders Monitoring Act 2022. He highlighted that this act is crucial for combating crime and bringing criminals to justice, which in turn will enhance public safety and benefit society.
In a meeting held at the Central Police Office on Friday, IG Memon instructed further development on the rules of the Habitual Offenders Monitoring Act 2022 to ensure its objectives are effectively implemented and beneficial to both the police force and the various communities within society.
The meeting, which focused on the electronic tagging (e-tagging) of habitual offenders, was attended by senior police officials including DIGs of Investigation and Crime, T&T, Headquarters, CIA, Finance, and Investigation, along with AIGs of Operations, Admin, Finance, and the IT Project Director. During the meeting, the DIG of T&T provided a detailed briefing on the goals and benefits of the e-tagging project and the Habitual Offenders Monitoring Act 2022. He outlined the responsibilities and objectives of the technical and rules sub-committees involved in this initiative. IG Memon directed the formation of a committee comprising DIGs of T&T, Crime and Investigation, CIA, and Investigation to efficiently execute the assigned tasks.
He emphasized the need to enhance the technical support and procurement processes for e-tagging equipment, ensuring there are no loopholes or deficiencies. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, IG Memon stated that it is gratifying to see the Sindh Police steadily advancing towards modern and sophisticated policing methods.
