The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 82 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 32 buildings in Gulberg, Faisal Town and Gulashan-e-Ravi, 30 in OPF Housing Scheme and Lahore Avenue, and 20 in Allama Iqbal Town and Azam Gardens.
These buildings were sealed during operations against illegal commercial buildings and nonpayment of commercialisation fees in these areas.
The sealed premises include American Lycetuff, Glorious Grammar School, Ali Science & Commerce Academy, Creative Grammar School, Kanz-ul-Iman Beacon School, Jamil Science School & Academy, Dar-ut-Tazkia School System, Nawabi Dera, Dollar Mart, Granito, Yadea, Chughtai’s Lab, Doctors Medical Centre, Gondal Hospital, grocery stores, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations. Enforcement teams carried out the operations with the assistance of the Police.
LDA officials claim that several notices were served on the owners of these illegal buildings prior to the operations being carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes in Lahore.
