Human, animal well-being interlinked: Minister

Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industries organized “Dialogue for Human-Animal Relationship” with Provincial Minister for Livestock Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak as special guest.

Govt officials, academia, animal rights activists, public health officials, wildlife scientists, animal welfare specialists and students attended the session.

Different speakers highlighted various aspects of human-animal relations in modern society with particular focus on the welfare of the animals.

The Provincial Minister stated that holding a session on animal welfare is a commendable step.

A change in social perception of animal welfare is only possible with such an awareness campaign as human & animal well-being is interlinked.

He added that the livestock department is taking concrete steps for the welfare of animals which includes legislative cover in the form of Punjab Animal Health Act 2019, Revival of SPCA and Dog Population Management Policy, 2021 which will be approved & implemented soon.

These laws and measures will have a positive impact not only on animal welfare but also on society, he added.
