LAHORE – The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has introduced a more convenient method for obtaining stamp papers for overseas Pakistanis.
Earlier, it was mandatory for all those who want to acquire a stamp paper to have a registered SIM card to obtain One-Time Passwords (OTPs).
In latest development, the authorities have eliminated the requirement of registered SIM card.
Now, expatriates can receive their OTPs directly on their email addresses.
Under the new policy, overseas Pakistanis will no longer need a local registered SIM to obtain an OTP for accessing services such as stamp paper and powers of attorney.
This change aims to facilitate expats by allowing them to complete the process from anywhere in the world. Previously, the SIM card requirement posed a challenge for those living abroad, as many did not have access to Pakistani mobile services.
According to a PLRA spokesperson, the new email OTP system is specifically designed to ease the procedures for overseas citizens. For local residents, the OTP system will remain linked to their registered SIM cards.
This initiative will not only streamline the acquisition of stamp papers but will also assist in various other legal formalities, such as granting general powers of attorney, for Pakistanis living abroad. The update is expected to significantly reduce barriers for expatriates in completing essential legal paperwork without the need to be physically present in Pakistan.
With this new system, the PLRA is taking a step toward enhancing accessibility and convenience for overseas Pakistanis, ensuring they can manage legal and property-related matters more efficiently.
