The Islamic Society of Greater Houston has extended heartfelt and warm greetings to the Muslim community on the Eid-al-Fitr day (May 13) and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the whole Ummah blessings, goodness and glad tidings.
The society’s moon sighting committee—Dr Salah AsSawy (Chairman), Dr Basem Hamid (Member), Justice Shehzado Shaikh (Member), Dr Main Alqudah (Member), and Dr Waleed Basyouni (Member)—in a message of congratulation has reiterated that it is the time we ask Allah to accept our fasting and Qiyam, to end our Ramazan with His pleasure and save us from His punishment.
Earlier, the committee members after a meeting Tuesday evening announced since sighting of the moon was not possible according to the scientific facts on Tuesday, therefore, Wednesday, May 12, would be the 30th day of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and Thursday would be the Eid day.
The Islamic Society of Greater Houston is serving the community by carrying out a number of education, health and charity projects in collaboration with several Islamic organizations and institutes.
Justice Shehzado Shaikh the former judge of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) of Pakistan and a senior member of the Society commands great respect among the community members for his deep knowledge and understanding over matters related of Shariah and because of his active participation in the society’s programmes.
