LAHORE – Honda is expected to unveil the redesigned model of its best-selling car Honda City in Pakistan and if true it would impact the prices of previous and used City cars.
The 7th generation Honda City, if launched, will replace the predecessor model unveiled in Pakistan in 2021. Although the redesigned model first debuted internationally in 2019, it would represent a new generation for Pakistani buyers.
The seventh-generation Honda City is expected to offer a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 119 hp and 145 Nm, with manual and CVT transmission options.
International versions feature a 10.1-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera and Honda Sensing safety technology.
The ADAS package includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and forward collision warning. Six airbags are also available depending on the market and trim.
Its exterior takes design inspiration from the Honda Insight, particularly around the headlights and taillights.
Expected Launch Date
Honda is expected to launch the 7th-generation City at the Pakistan Auto Parts Show scheduled to take place from September 18 to 20 at Expo Center Lahore.
Price
The company has officially stated nothing about the price of the Honda City facelift model in Pakistan.
Honda City Current Prices in Pakistan
Honda City is available in multiple variants in Pakistan, with prices varying significantly based on engine and trim level.
The Honda City 1.2LS is priced at Rs4,737,000, making it the entry-level option among the listed variants.
The Honda City Aspire 1.5LAS carries a price tag of Rs6,069,000, while the higher-spec Honda City Aspire S 1.5LAS is priced at Rs6,149,000.
This puts a Rs1.412 million difference between the base City 1.2LS and the Aspire S 1.5LAS. The Aspire S is also Rs80,000 more expensive than the standard Aspire variant.
Will Prices of Previous or Used Honda City Drop?
When a facelift model or a redesigned version of a car is launched in the market, the price of the older model normally drops.
Dealers usually try to clear their remaining stock before the new version arrives, which can lead to discounts or special offers.
The launch of the new model can also affect the prices in the used-car market, as owners of the previous model may see its resale value fall once the newer version becomes available in the market.
