Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and hailstorms swept through parts of Islamabad on Thursday, disrupting routine life.
The severe weather brought intense downpours, strong winds and large hailstones, causing damage to vehicles in the affected areas.
Bahria Enclave, Gulberg Green, Nilore, Ali Pur and the Thanda Pani were the worst affected areas in the federal capital.
Several cars reportedly suffered shattered front and rear windshields, while their bodies were dented by the hail.
Roads and streets were covered with layers of hail, making driving hazardous and disrupting commuters in the affected localities.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a trough of westerly wave is affecting upper parts of Pakistan. It is likely to persist till tomorrow.
A deep depression also lies over southeast of Orissa (India) and likely to move north-northwestward.
Under these conditions, partly cloudy weather is expected in Islamabad and adjoining areas on Thursday night and Friday.
More rains and gusty winds accompanied by isolated hailstorms are also expected during the forecast period.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C on Friday and Saturday.
