ISLAMABAD – A suspected nationwide scam targeting MDCAT candidates and their families has been uncovered, with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arresting the alleged central figures behind a network accused of collecting crores of rupees by promising to manipulate examination scores.

The suspects approached students and parents with claims that MDCAT marks could be increased and merit positions improved in return for large payments. Investigators said the operation appeared to be organised rather than an isolated scam, with the network allegedly using different methods to identify and target students seeking admission to medical colleges.

FIA has arrested the alleged key members of the network as part of its investigation into the fraud. Officials said further action is being taken against individuals believed to have worked as agents, facilitators and other members of the group.

During the operation, investigators seized the suspects’ mobile phones and other electronic devices. The devices have been sent for forensic examination, with investigators examining the digital evidence to establish the network’s links and identify additional people allegedly involved in the scheme.

FIA said raids and investigative operations have now been expanded to different parts of the country in an effort to trace the remaining members of the alleged network. Investigators are relying on digital and technical evidence recovered during the operation to map the group’s wider network and track down its alleged facilitators and agents.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scale of the alleged fraud and identify everyone connected to the operation.

MDCAT 2026 Exam

Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 has been completed, with thousands of medical and dental college aspirants appearing for the entrance examination across Pakistan. The test is conducted under the regulatory framework of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), while regional universities are responsible for administering the examination in their respective jurisdictions.

138,158 candidates registered for MDCAT 2026, including candidates appearing at the examination centre in Riyadh. Punjab recorded the largest number of registrations, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

Attendance varied by province. In Punjab, approximately 49,203 students were registered, with 47,501 candidates taking the examination. Around 1,702 registered candidates did not appear. In KP, the number of registered candidates stood at 38,845, while 37,747 candidates appeared in the examination.

One of the major result developments came from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Khyber Medical University (KMU) announced its MDCAT results on September 24, 2026. The KP examination recorded 38,845 registrations, with 37,747 students appearing.

Around 66% of the candidates were reported to have passed. The highest reported score was a perfect 180 marks, achieved by Muhammad Hassan. KP pass percentage should not be treated as the overall national MDCAT pass rate because the examination is administered and reported regionally.

The regular MDCAT should not be confused with the entrance test conducted by the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS). NUMS held its separate 2026 admission test on September 13, 2026, with approximately 43,000 candidates reported to have appeared. Therefore, NUMS candidates and figures are separate from the regular MDCAT statistics.
