HC quashes PSA of Kashmiri youth lodged in UP jail

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the High Court has quashed the detention of a Kashmiri youth lodged in Agra Jail of India under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA).

The youth Jahangeer Ahmad Malik, a resident of Kiloora, Shopian, was arrested by Indian police in 2020 and shifted to Kathua Jail, Jammu, from where he was taken to Agra Jail in India.

In its order, the court said, “Detention order passed by the District Magistrate of Shopian on October 18, 2021 is quashed. Respondents, including concerned Jail Superintendent, are directed to release the detainee forthwith, provided he is not required in any other case”.—KMS
