High Commissioner for Pakistan, Babar Amin on Tuesday telephoned Tony Smith MP, Speaker of the House of Representative and discussed parliamentary cooperation between Pakistan and Australia. They also discussed mutual cooperation at the multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
According to details, during telephonic conversation High Commissioner Babar Amin thanked the Speaker for his support to the recently re-established the Friendship Group for Pakistan in the Australian Parliament, of which, Speaker Tony Smith is himself a member.
The High Commissioner conveyed the greetings of Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Asad Qaiser and reiterated his invitation to Speaker Tony Smith, for visiting Pakistan at a mutually convenient time.
Thanking for the invitation, Speaker Tony Smith stated that he would certainly consider once the Covid-19 travel restrictions are eased. It was also agreed to arrange telephone calls between the parliamentary leaders of the two countries for exchange of views on matters of mutual interest.—INP
