Islamabad authorities continue efforts to contain forest fires in Islamabad Margalla Hills, with aerial and ground operations underway.

A massive fire broke out in Margala Hills, prompting a quick response from authorities in the capital. Prime Minister Coordinator on Climate Change & Environmental Coordination, Romina Khurshid Alam is supervising the operation in which helicopter from National Disaster Management Authority is taking part to extinguish the inferno.

Rescue teams are currently working to put out the fire in the Saidpur village range of Margalla, while strong winds are making the task difficult.

This incident comes after another fire in the same area on May 18, which the Capital Development Authority team managed to control to around 70 percent by nightfall.

The fire erupted at three different locations in hilly area. The fire started heatwave with soaring temperatures continuing in most parts of Pakistan.

This is a developing story, more updates to follow…
